Happy afternoon, it's 2 PM on a Sunday, quite early for me to write.
Like I have already written yesterday I am currently listening to a book called Overlap by Sean McCabe. He is pointing out some good practices to stay on track.
In the past half year quite a lot of things changed in my life, personal and professional and this has thrown my routines over a lot. I am not writing regularly anymore, at least no "real" articles. Something I would like to go back to.
Sean is suggesting to wake up early and sit down to write as the first thing to do. Sounds appealing, as your brain is not numbed by the day already, which is at least for me really a problem recently.
When I start writing in the evening it's hard for me to stick to a thought or often even to have a single clear thought on what to write.
Another thing, which was clear for me, is to track the results.
Today I spent most of the time outside, mowing the lawn, shouting at kids to get of my lawn, giving strangers an evil eye. A usual day living on the countryside. Yes, I am kidding.
I really start liking this, it's really grounding and calming and it has become a nice side project. Looking up what you need and what has which result and so on. Something that you are doing for yourself and nobody is watching or you are not getting rated for.
While being outside I have continued to listen to Overlap, a book by Shawn McCabe and it reminded me of some really good things. And one thing will be again, to start the day with writing. So from tomorrow on, I will try to write this blog again in the morning and track my output. I will do a little comparison after a few weeks.
I got a little addition today to my network at home: pi-hole
It may be a bit technical today... Ok, do you like ads? I guess not. Yes, I get it some people live from ads, but that is very short-sighted. I would prefer to have a stable income instead that isn't tied to people not knowing what an ad-blocker is.
Most probably you already have an adblocker installed in your browser, if not, I would recommend you to do so. Ads on the internet steal you a lot of time and attention.
Sadly there are some devices where you cannot just install an Adblocker on, so-called smart devices, like a TV, or also inside apps, it's not that easy.
And there comes in pi-hole. Pi-hole is a little application that you install in your network, that blocks out all advertisements. This doesn't only save your sanity, time and attention. It also saves your download rate, because it doesn't block the ads at the time of downloading them, it blocks the ads at the time of calling for them (simply said).
I have it installed since 7 PM and since then I am basically ad-free. Here and there something comes through, but in 95 % of cases it works.
