Don't assume that people like the same stuff that you do.
When I got the first got into managing people I always had the assumption if I am blown away by things, that means other people will also like that. Well, I couldn't have been farer away. It's the same as if you would give a monkey a banana for climbing up a tree and not try to convince the elephant to do the same for a banana. The same goes for people.
Different interests, differents skillsets, different backgrounds. A different human being.
